Prices are indicative

• Live prices are spot indications from a third-party market data feed and are usually less than a minute old, but they can be delayed, interrupted or wrong.
• They are not an offer to buy or sell. Dealers, jewelers, pawn shops and refiners set their own buying and selling prices, which differ from spot.
• Melt values show the metal content only. They leave out premiums, collector value, fees, taxes and shipping.
• Converted prices on country pages use live exchange rates and do not include local duties, VAT or GST unless the page says so.

Calculators and estimates

Calculators return estimates from the weight, purity and price you enter. A buyer will test the actual metal, and the result can differ because of solder, stones, wear, plating or a different purity than the stamp suggests.

Rules change

Tax rules, sales tax on bullion, customs allowances, hallmarking systems and retirement-account rules change over time. We note when a rule was last checked, but always confirm the current rule with the official source before you rely on it.
