Gold in 2022: the year in review
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022 sent gold sharply higher, but the Fed then raised rates seven times during the year as inflation reached four-decade highs. Central banks bought more than 1,000 tonnes of gold in 2022, the most in decades.
